Mario Andrade / Doris Morales
The history of coffee cultivation on the farm began with the grandfather of the family, who initially grew coffee solely for personal use and shared it with his workers during dinner. Doris Morales, his daughter eventually recognized the great potential of coffee cultivation in the Mira River basin. This valley spans the Imbabura and Carchi regions, which offer ideal conditions for high-altitude Arabica beans, and investment in their cultivation began massively around the turn of the millennium.
Over the past 20 years, Hacienda Habitat Forest Coffee has emerged as a leader in sustainable coffee cultivation. The business is now run by Doris's son Mario Andrade in the third generation. The company maintains close relationships with local farmers. Hacienda Habitat Forest also supports numerous reforestation and tourism projects in the region and works closely with local authorities to raise awareness about sustainability and combat illegal mining activities.
